A fun book that supports “Taking December Back” is called, The Holidays?? Help! I Forgot What They’re All About... by Sandy Gingras. The book is 60 pages with about one sentence for every two pages!! You can read it in five minutes – yahoo!
My favorite quotes from the book are:
· “Remember that “present” is more about being than buying.”
· “Spend time not money”
· “Make a list of what you already have and be thankful.”
Being present during the holiday season or really any old day; is something to think about. Being present may look a bit different for each of us. To stay present, I TRY to keep my mind focused on the moment and not get distracted with all that must be done or the places we must be. Can anyone relate? When I am focused, I see the little things. It’s the little things that count in my book.
Before my “Taking December Back” days – I remember pushing from one wonderful event to the next! Yes, they were all wonderful, but honestly, I have to ask myself, was I really present? I don’t think so! I think I was just trying to do it ALL, isn’t that the way? Well, now I am simply trying to do half!!
It’s December 8th – I think I am doing ok with “Taking Back December”!! I have not bought one gift, but hey, no one needs a thing, including my children!! So, I have no reason to panic, it’s all a part of “Taking December Back”!!
If you are trying to “Take December Back” and feel the craze is creeping up and you want the peace; consider a couple questions about your December. What is my priority? What is my family’s priority?
